Southern Utah Summer Trip

Southern Utah Weekend

We were able to continue to our great summer with a trip to Southern Utah! This trip was full of new things and experiences for everyone. We were able to pack a lot of activities into a small amount of time, and we had a lot of fun doing all of the great activities!
Day One
We got an early start on the road the first day and stayed entertained on our short road trip with various games and activities in the car. We arrived in Moab, Utah around noon and had our first stop seeing some dinosaur tracks that had been preserved in the rocks. It was interesting to see the tracks and learn about the possible animals that could’ve made them. After seeing the dinosaur tracks, we went and had lunch and stopped at a rock shop. After spending some time indoors and enjoying the AC, we were ready to jump into the full Southern Utah experience and go on a hike. The hike was along a river and lead to a waterfall with a small pool at the bottom. Everyone enjoyed playing and swimming in the water for a while before hiking back out. By the time we checked into our cabins, everyone was ready for dinner. We made a fire and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows for dinner. It was a fun experience that not everyone had done before. It was a good way for everyone to relax a bit after an eventful day and a good end to a great day.
Day Two
We got an early start on day two and we set out for a fun rafting trip down the Colorado River. It was a five hour trip down the river with a guide and a few other groups on their own rafts. There was a lot of swimming, laughing and having fun during the whole trip. We stopped for lunch on the side of the river and enjoyed some sandwiches and juice before getting back in the river for the rest of the trip.
By the time we got back to the car after rafting, everyone was very worn out and we stopped for some ice cream to cool down on a hot day before going on to our next adventure. To end our already eventful day, we went to the Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park. It was a relatively easy hike inside a maze of different rock formations. We took our time through the maze and enjoyed exploring all the different unique formation this place had to offer. We stopped for lunch in the middle of the Fiery Furnace and enjoyed the dinners we had packed in with us as we sat on the rocks and admired the scenery. By the time we got our of the Fiery Furnace and drove back to our campsite, everyone was exhausted and excited to get some good sleep.
Day 3
For our last adventure of the trip, a few people got up very early and went on a sunrise hike up to Delicate Arch. It was amazing to see the sun hit the top of the arch as it slowly rose in the sky, and it was an unforgettable experience. After the hike, it was sadly time to leave the beautiful place we had been enjoying for a few days. We had breakfast, packed up and got on the road heading back home.
It was an amazing trip that really pushed everyone out of their comfort zones just enough to have amazing experiences that they couldn’t have had in any other place. Overall, everyone learned a lot, formed closer friendships, and had a lot of fun!
